Typically whenever I access a website that needs my CAC (email, DTS, etc), it prompts me to select my name from a list of credentials, which I do. Windows Security seems to have randomly stopped recognizing my CAC reader, this happened early September. Windows Security is no longer recognizing my CAC reader (Smart Card reader) How do I get Windows10 to allow my CAC readers to recognize when a CAC has been inserted?

It is not an "administrator/authority" issue it is not a network issue I have powered-down/restarted I have unplugged/plugged each reader I have updated all drivers I have restored Win10 back to 11 May earliest available to me. Yes-I have followed every solution that can be identified by Google and on your help site-none of them work.

Now I can't restore back to the April version because Windows no longer shows that restore point as an option besides that would be a temporary fix, since the next update would break it again. Until today, 19 May 20-I came to work and the computer auto-updated with new Windows update and again all of my CAC readers are inoperable.

I successfully fixed my problem by restoring the Windows configuration to earlier April version-everything worked fine all three CAC readers. The CAC card is functioning normally and is usable in other machines/readers without a problem. All of the CAC readers drivers are current and functioning normally. The CAC device manager is running most recent update on driver and is functioning properly. Then a Win10 update was pushed in May 2020 approx 5-11 May 20 that disabled any of the CAC readers from recognizing when the CAC is inserted. Through April 2020 all three worked fine. I have an internal CAC reader, an external USB CAC reader and a USB Keyboard/CAC reader. I have an HP ProBook 640 G3, i5-7200U CPU 2.5GHz 8 GB RAM 64-Bit running Win 10 - version 1903.
